Caring
for Your Painting
Oil paintings can last for centuries with proper
care. Handle pictures with two hands, and be aware of the edges,
especially as you walk around corners or through tight areas.
Be careful when setting down the painting on edge. Oil paintings
are surprisingly durable, but they are safer in a frame. Unmounted
prints need special care because they can be easily nicked.
Sunlight may damage the work over time, so avoid
placing the piece in direct line of the sun’s rays. If you
purchase a painting from Ann Candler Fine Art, which you plan
to hang on a wall that receives heavy sunlight, please let us
know and we will apply a fine art UV protectant at no additional
charge.
For easy cleaning of your original oil painting,
dust gently each year with a lint-free silk cloth or a very soft,
clean, dry paint brush. Prints on paper are vulnerable, and should
be framed under glass.
Always hang the artwork securely and then
. . . enjoy!
